We are delighted to confirm that, following Unity’s recent commitment to a permanent open platform, work on the SpatialOS Game Development Kit (GDK) for Unity will continue to be one of our priorities, to support developers looking for a comprehensive multiplayer platform.

This means that any developers considering new projects can continue to plan around our ongoing development of the GDK for Unity. We will ensure that SpatialOS continues to work with Unity. To read more about how SpatialOS works with all game engines, check out our recent blog.

We would also like to highlight some of the exciting improvements we are planning in our Game Development Kit.

In the months to come, we are committed to giving you the fastest route to prototype and shipping for any multiplayer game - from a deathmatch arena to a vast open world.

And, for the first time, we plan to offer official support for SpatialOS games on mobile platforms - look out for a pre-alpha release for experimentation soon, and more information at GDC in March.

These and other planned updates for Unity developers can be tracked in our open roadmap.

Over the last week, the major engine providers have publicly affirmed your right as a developer to host your game wherever you want. We think this is a monumental step forward for the future of online games.

We can’t wait to see the games you’ll be building on these open platforms.
